Speaker
Public speaking has always been a passion.
In my younger days my greatest fer was not public speaking – it was a more private shyness. At an event if the people beside me didn’t start the conversation I was in trouble. However if you’d ask me to speak to the restaurant it would have been no problem.
As an adult I realised this made me a little odd!
It was lucky public speaking didn’t scare me when I found myself at the PNG Medical Symposium on HIV/AIDS with a ‘missing’ guest speaker – a guest speaker we’d organised. After checking with the organisers I prepared the presentation and delivered it.
Speaking skills came in handy to liven up workplace training, to deliver information in business presentations and as a Toastmaster.
